13 Simple Tips to Organize the Fridge

There isn’t anyone who likes to pull out the vegetable that is stuffed in the corner of the fridge. While cooking when we have the things handy it is easy to finish the dish and end up the activity to relax. But if we don’t get the things handy, it makes it stressful and time consuming activity.

Let us check some simple steps to make our fridge less cluttered:

1. Egg storage: Store eggs in their cartons on the middle or top shelves where the temperature is more consistent.

2. Milk storage: Store milk on the back of the bottom shelf where it is coldest to make sure milk does get spoiled.

3. Stackable wine bottle storage: Use the stackable wine bottle storage to stack the bottles neatly on to the corner of the fridge shelf.

4. Use pull out trays: Often the racks in the fridge become the issue. We end up having huge space between the racks but don’t require the larger container to store the food. In such instances, use the pull out trays to maximize the storage space by keeping food on the top of and below of the refrigerator shelves. The trays can be simply clipped right on.

5. Use labels: Using labels help in keeping each food item in a particular place every time and hence taking out the food item will never be difficult as we get used to the placement.

6. Use zip locks for storage: Store meat and similar items in the zip lock bags and before closing the bag, remove the extra air using straw. It can be stacked one above the other and hence saves a lot of space.

7. Reusable silicone food bag: Use reusable silicone bag to store the left over. These bags are eco-friendly and airtight than the regular disposable bags. And the best part is the bags can be reheated in the microwave or boiling water directly.

8. Storage outside the fridge: Add mountable shelf to add storage for small items like spice boxes. Simple idea but of great use!

9. Kids friendly storage: Store the snacks for the kids to grab at eye level so that they can take it easily without messing other things inside the fridge. Or use a kid’s snacks bin to keep all the fridge snacks for the kids to pick easily from.

10. Use washable fridge mats: Using fridge mats helps in easy cleaning. Use waterproof mats that also fight bacterial and lingering odors.

11. Basket storage: Keep the things in the fridge in designated labeled baskets with handle for easy access. One of the baskets should be label- eat me first – to store the food items that need to be finish as early as possible. This way we will know how much food is left over or in case any food items is nearing the expiry date.

12. Raw meat and fish storage: Store the meat and fish in clear plastic containers in the bottom shelf to prevent unwanted drips.

13. Activated carbon: Keep a bottle of activated carbon to absorb the odors and deodorize the fridge with pleasant smell.
