Soap countertops: Soap stones are generally the grey and black stones that feel soapy. It does not get affected by acids of lemon, vinegar, etc. It does not get stained and is heat resistant. But it is easier to chip and susceptible to scratches.

Tile countertop: Tile countertops are easy to clean and durable. These countertops can be installed one portion at a time and come in numerous decorative patterns, styles, design, texture, color and price. They can stand heat and is easy to clean. The cons of tile countertops are that the tiles can crack or chip easily and build up bacteria.

Quartz countertops: Quartz is made in factory from stone. These countertops are low maintenance because they have nonporous surface. These countertops are stain resistant. But the disadvantage of these countertops is that it is not heat friendly. Hot materials will lead to discoloration of the surface.

Butcher countertops: Butcher countertops are made of very thick and appealing wood. These countertops are ideal for wood house and give a natural look. Regular maintenance is required as these countertops accumulate molds and bacteria easily.

Marble countertops: Marble countertops can be polished and is easy to incorporate with any décor. Marble requires resealing after some time and get stained easily, hence should be used carefully.

Granite countertops: Granite is the most preferred countertop material. Granite can withstand heat, resistant to stains and last a lifetime, does not need much maintenance. But granite is very expensive, and requires sealing treatment once a year. It comes in different colors.

Corian countertops: Corian is a mixture of polyesters and acrylics. They tend to look like natural stone. This material is not heat friendly and so need to be extra careful when placing hot pans and pots on the Corian surface.

Laminated countertops: Laminated countertops or Formica is made by combining paper and resin under high pressure and heat. Formica is relatively cheap and come in different designs. Durability is less for this type of countertops as they chip very easily and get stained.

Stainless steel countertops: Stainless steel countertops are easier to clean.These countertops are very durable and so are mostly found in commercial kitchens. Stainless steel countertops are largely preferred because they don’t get stained easily and is much easier to clean. They also give appealing surface and do not require regular resealing. It is also durable and it does not chip easily.
