Keeping the kitchen organized is the tip to completing the cooking at ease. Check out some simple tricks to keep the kitchen organized.
1. Arrange the utensils: Crowded utensils look very untidy and very uncomfortable to dig out the vessel from the overloaded drawers. Use drawer organizers or cutlery trays to organize the utensils according to the size and material. Try to use the least required vessels in the kitchen and make sure to arrange them where they can be clearly seen and easily reachable without having to dig out from a pile.
2. Organize as per usage: Create separate places for food storage containers, cleaning supplies, pans, pots, cooking utensils, baking utensils and electronic devices. Try to keep the kitchen counter clutter free with very minimal things arranged neatly.
3. Cabinet space: To start with, pull all the dishes out of the cabinets and decide which ones to keep and discard all the unused utensils. The most frequently used utensils should be kept at the most convenient cabinet. Rearrange the cabinets’ interior shelves to keep different sizes of dishes.
4. Increase storage: Mount the hooks on the skinny wooden plank above the stove. To hang the spatulas, spoons and coffee mugs. Use wire shelf risers to multiply the vertical storage space, giving more room to store all the dishware. Stock pans, cutting boards, lids horizontally. Store the cloth napkins, placemats in the plastic container and keep in the lowest cabinet.
5. Kids’ friendly space: Ensure to keep the kids lunchboxes, quick snacks at the lower cabinets. This will help the kids to grab the things easily.
6. Use cabinet doors: Hang the frequently used cooking utensils like spoons, spatula, lids on the back of the cabinet door instead of piling it up in the drawers.
7. Magnetic bar: Store the kitchen knife and smaller spoons on the magnetic strip glued on the wall.
8. Fridge cleaning: Ensure not to fill the fridge with leftover food. Check regularly for the expiration dates on the food stored in the fridge. Adjust the temperature and humidity levels depending on the food stored. Clean the fridge regularly. Arrange the food in the fridge as per the food type, most frequently used items.
9. Tidy up the pantry: Take 15-30 minutes every weekend for cleaning and clearing the pantry, kitchen cabinets and the cupboard. Discard all the expired foods (try not to buy or store too much food in the pantry). Try using the door organizers to increase storage. First in first out should be the mantra of the pantry storage.
10. Stop the plastic obsession: Try to replace all the plastic containers with the glass or steel containers. Discard any stained, cracked plastic boxes. Stack the empty plastic boxes, sorted by size and easily visible.
11. Plastic bags storage: Collect all the plastic bags into a single box neatly folded and easily grabbed when needed.
12. Appliance storage: Store appliances in deep drawers or pull out shelves instead of the counter space. Keep the appliances neat and tidy.Clean any spillage immediately.
